Essex & Herts - Spring 2025 Service Change

We're making some changes to our East Hertfordshire network around Bishop's Stortford from Monday 24th March affecting services 36, 37 & 836. From the same date we'll be launching services 322, 323 and 324 between Bishop's Stortford and Great Dunmow on behalf of Essex County Council and introducing new limited commercial service 335.

From Sunday 30th March we'll then be introducing service HL1 in Hoddesdon & Broxbourne on behalf of Hertfordshire County Council, providing links to the new High Leighs estate. 

A summary of the changes being made is laid out below.

From Monday 24th March

Service 36 (36A, 836) - Bishop's Stortford > Buntingford

We're introducing a revised timetable on all days to improve reliability and create additional journey opportunities for passengers:

• An additional weekday 36A will operate between Bishop's Stortford and Little Hadham only, departing at 0745.
• An additional weekday 36 will operate departing Bishop's Stortford at 1445. This journey will connect with Service 37 in Buntingford and continue through to Stevanage. 
• An additional weekday 36A will operate between Little Hadham and Bishop's Stortford only, departing at 1605.
• The 1705 weekday journey from Bishop's Stortford is withdrawn and replaced with two new journeys departing at 1635 & 1735. 
• Evening journeys on Service 36 towards Bishop's Stortford will be restructured with journeys from Buntingford (the Crown) at 1752, 1837 & 1917 retimed to depart at 1712, 1812 & 2012. 
• On Saturdays, the 1835 journey from Bishop's Stortford is retimed to operate 10 minutes later throughout departing at 1845.
• The Schooldays only 836 service will operate to revised times to better reflect traffic conditions. These journeys will now operate on non-schooldays as well.

Service 37 - Buntingford > Stevenage

We're introducing a revised timetable on all days to improve reliability and create additional journey opportunities for passengers:

• The 1607 weekday journey towards Stevenage is retimed to operate earlier at 1522 and will now connect with a new journey on Service 36 from Bishop's Stortford. 
• The 1725 & 1810 weekday journeys from Stevenage are retimed to operate at 1700 & 1900 respectively to provide a more even timetable through the evening peak. 
• On Saturdays, running times between Hitchin and Stevenage are amended to better reflect traffic conditions.

Service 324 (322, 323, 335) - Bishop's Stortford > Great Dunmow

We're relaunching Services 323 and 324 on behalf of Essex County Council following a re-tendering exercise. This includes the Tuesday only journeys to Lindsell Village as Service 322. A revised timetable is introduced to provide a more even and regular frequency.

On Service 323 additional journeys are provided and the start and end of the day between Takeley and Great Dunmow High Street. In addition a small number of additional journeys will operate between Bishop's Stortford and Start Hill numbered 335.

Fares for the 322, 323, 324 & 335 have yet to be confirmed as most journeys are being provided under contract to Essex CC who will retain the fares generated. We are awaiting confirmation and will publish the fares as soon as possible.

From Sunday 30th March

Service HL1 - Broxbourne > Hoddesdon > High Leighs

We're delighted to be launching Service HL1 on behalf of Hertfordshire County Council from Sunday 30th March. Service HL1 will run half hourly throughout the day seven days a week linking the new High Leighs estate with Hoddesdon Centre and Broxbourne Station.
